Laya Hotels is a chain of army-owned resorts located around the country to provide travelers with diverse locations and experiences. Each resort is a haven in its own right and offers guests a plethora of culinary experiences coupled with scenic views, luxury lodging and warm Sri Lankan hospitality.
The venture began in 1989 as a welfare measure when the Sri Lanka Army started operating the Wadduwa Holiday Resort to provide a rest and recuperation space for Army personnel. The number of properties utilized in this way, increased and when the war ended in 2009, the Army together with the Government spearheaded the process of nation building which included the development of the tourism industry to accommodate surging tourist arrivals. What began as a means of providing rest to brave soldiers to save beautiful Sri Lanka is today, a space for anyone looking to experience the best of Sri Lanka.
